Informal picnics are welcome in the park as per their policy below:
Small groups [max 30 people] are welcome to picnic in the Park [provided there are no
functions on the day]. There are certain conditions relating to these picnics.
- No structures / gazebos / umbrellas;
- No cooking – i.e. braais / skottles etc;
- No alcohol
- No glass
- If tables and chairs are brought in [blankets/cushions are preferable] they are to be
the folding camp type chairs and tables – i.e. plastic and/or wood tables and chairs
aren’t permitted. No pallets; - No jumping castles or other inflatables are permitted;
- No ball sports;
- No decorations [balloons / banners etc] are to be put up;
- You can’t cordon off a “private” area.
- Park rules as displayed at the Park to be adhered to.
The water flowing over the sandstone is safe for kiddies to splash and paddle in; however, the
Water in the lake is non-potable and should be avoided.
They do not take bookings, and if there is an event in the park on the day, then you will
unfortunately not be able to have the picnic.
Photoshoots
Small family/wedding-type photoshoots are welcome on the same conditions as picnics.
No props permitted other than what would ordinarily be brought in for a picnic.
